We’re here to support you during your pregnancy and after your baby is born. Below you can find helpful resources, including educational materials, information about health benefits you may quality for, and ways our team can assist you during this very special time.
Reporting Your Pregnancy and Baby's Birth
It is important to let both Home State Health and Missouri’s Family Support Division (FSD) know when you are pregnant and when your baby is born. This helps make sure you get the right health coverage during pregnancy and after delivery.
Notify Home State Health
To tell us you are pregnant:
- Call the Member Services number on the back of your card, or
- Log in to your Home State Health Member Portal to complete a Notification of Pregnancy
Notify Missouri's Family Support Division (FSD)
You also need to tell FSD when you are pregnant and after your baby is born so your baby can be added to your health plan.
You can report changes by:
- Calling 855-373-4636 (translation services are available) or
- Go to the closest FSD Resource Center or
- Fill out the Report a Change form

Our Care Management Team is Here to Help
Our Care Management team helps pregnant members stay healthy during and after pregnancy. A care manager can answer questions, connect you with resources, and help you get the care you need. They can also support you with doctor visits, transportation, and other services to make sure you and your baby stay well.
Contact our Care Management team by calling 1-855-694-HOME (4663) (TTY: 711) for Home State Health and 1-877-236-1020 for Show Me Healthy Kids or submit a Care Management Referral form to have a member of our Care team contact you.
Your Prenatal Visits
It is important to go to all of your prenatal visits. This is true even if you feel well.
What you can expect during prenatal visits:
- Perform tests and ultrasounds to check on you and your baby
- Discuss nutrition such as prenatal vitamins while you are pregnant
- Monitor your baby’s growth and confirm your due date
- Address your questions and concerns

It’s important to see a doctor if you are pregnant or planning on becoming pregnant. If you need help finding an OB-GYN, we can help. Use our Find a Provider link or call Member Services at 1-855-694-HOME (4663) or 1-877-236-1020 for Show Me Healthy Kids.
Flu Season
Will you be pregnant this flu season?
Healthcare Providers recommend that you get a flu shot. Being pregnant increases your risk of getting very sick from the flu. Studies show that the flu shot is safe for pregnant women. Stay healthy during your pregnancy.

Home State Health hosts fun and informative baby showers for moms-to-be. Check out our outreach page for events near you.
Breast pump program- If you are pregnant or recently had a baby you may be eligible to get a breast pump at no cost through your Home State Health and Show Me Healthy Kids benefits.
- You will need a prescription from your doctor or provider before your breast pump can be shipped.
- You can receive one breast pump per pregnancy, but no more than one every two years.
- You may choose any network vendor and contact that provider directly to place your order.
- Please choose only one vendor. Ordering from more than one company may result in extra charges that you could be responsible for.
- You will not be reimbursed for a breast pump purchased at a retail store.
Breast pumps usually ship during your third trimester, once your prescription is received and your order is processed.

Having information to support a healthy pregnancy and delivery is important. Below you will find a few resources available to you.
Healthy Moms Healthy Babies is a Missouri specific website that gives you important information about pregnancy, postpartum care, and available resources.
Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services provides information on various programs offered throughout the state including, WIC, Women’s Health, and Infant and Child Health.
Start Smart for Your Baby is our care management program dedicated to supporting you throughout pregnancy and after your baby is born. This program website provides a lot of educational information about caring for you and baby.
Here are some helpful links with tips on caring for your baby:
Family planning services are covered under your MO Healthnet pharmacy benefit. Talk to your doctor about birth control options that are right for you.
- MO HealthNet covers most prescription prenatal vitamins, folic acid, and over-the-counter oral iron, with a prescription from a healthcare provider. Find a list of covered prescription prenatal vitamins here. Other prescription prenatal vitamins not on the list may be available with prior authorization.
Taking care of your mental health and substance use is important for both you and your baby. Below are some resources available to you.
- If you are feeling sad, irritable, hopeless, or worried, help is available. Call 988 Lifeline for support.
- If your relationship is causing you to question your safety or the safety of the baby, call 1-800-799-7233. If it is not safe for you to call, the National Domestic Violence Hotline has a live chat service to provide real-time support. For information about relationship health please visit our Relationship Health/Domestic Violence page.
- Concerned with how your medications can affect pregnancy and breastfeeding? Talk to your doctor or call MotherToBaby at 1-866-626-6487.
- Trying to decrease or stop substance use? Call Care Management for support with a referral or find a provider near your that provides substance use services.
- There are risks of marijuana use in pregnancy. Refer to the Marijuana use in pregnancy (PDF) for more information.
You can be rewarded for completing healthy behaviors. To learn more about what incentives you may qualify for visit our My Health Pays Rewards page.
My Health Pays can be used to pay for utilities, transportation, telecommunications, childcare services, education, rent, and everyday essential household and baby items at Walmart.
You may be eligible for some additional health benefits. Contact Care Management to learn more.
- Dental and Vision Benefits: You might be eligible for dental and vision benefits. Assistance is available to help you find an in-network provider.
- Belly Bands: May be available during pregnancy for members who are engaged in Care Management and meet the criteria.
- Mom’s Meals: You may be eligible for 30 meals after delivery if engaged in care management services.
- Blood pressure monitors- If you have high blood pressure or have had it in the past, you may be able to get a blood pressure monitor. Your doctor can write a prescription and send it to an in‑network medical equipment provider.

- The Puff‑Free Pregnancy program offers structured tobacco cessation health coaching sessions designed to support smoking cessation during pregnancy. Your Care Management team can help you get connected.
Vaccine Recommendations:
Getting vaccinated during pregnancy helps protect both you and your baby. Important vaccines you may need include:
- Flu - Influenza (Flu) Vaccine: If you are pregnant during flu season, doctors recommend getting a flu shot. Pregnancy increases your risk of getting very sick from the flu. Studies show the flu shot is safe during pregnancy.
- TDAP- Diphtheria, Tetanus, and Pertussis Vaccine
- Coronavirus - COVID-19 Vaccine
- RSV Vaccine
- Pneumonia
Vaccines are covered through your pharmacy benefit with MO HealthNet.
Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD) Testing:
STD testing during pregnancy helps protect you and your baby. Some STDs can be passed to your baby during birth, which is why testing is important. These include:
- HIV – Can be transmitted during pregnancy, childbirth, or breastfeeding.
- Gonorrhea – Can infect the baby’s eyes, causing blindness if untreated.
- Chlamydia – Can cause pneumonia or eye infections in newborns.
- Herpes (HSV-1 & HSV-2) – Can cause severe infections if the baby is exposed during vaginal delivery.
- Hepatitis B – Can be passed during birth, leading to chronic liver disease in the baby.
- Trichomoniasis – May lead to preterm birth or low birth weight.
- Syphilis – Can cross the placenta during pregnancy, leading to congenital syphilis.
- Congenital Syphilis (PDF) is a serious condition passed from mother to baby during pregnancy, can be prevented through routine STD testing, early detection, and timely treatment during pregnancy.
Community Resources
Resources to help with food, home visiting programs, baby items, transportation, and housing support are listed below:
- Need help finding resources for food, housing, baby items, Find Help can help.
- Transportation is available for eligible members through MTM. Transportation is available to go to childbirth classes, community resources, WIC appointments, counseling, and more. To schedule a ride call 1-866-455-2097 or book a ride online.
- WIC: Women, Infants and Children is a supplemental food and nutrition program for families that also offers referrals to healthcare, immunizations, and community services. Women, Infants and Children
- SNAP: The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program offers a monthly benefit to help you buy food and food products.
- Home Visiting Programs: Families develop a close relationship with a nurse who advises and supports them through a healthy pregnancy to raising a healthy child. Reach out to your care management team for support with a referral.
- Childbirth classes - Classes may be available in your community.
